Halloween is coming up and it’s time to throw caution to the wind and dress up as someone you’re not in real life but someone who leads a very exciting and risque life in your fantasies. It’s time fo find the ultimate halloween costume.
The term “costume” can refer to wardrobe and dress in general, or to the distinctive style of dress of a particular people, class, or period. Costume may also refer to the artistic arrangement of accessories in a picture, statue, poem, or play, appropriate to the time, place, or other circumstances represented or described, or to a particular style of clothing worn to portray the wearer as a character or type of character other than their regular persona at a social event such as a masquerade, a fancy dress party or in an artistic theatrical performance. (This is where you fantasy life comes in). But we are talking about halloween costumes. Halloween costumes are outfits worn on or around October 31. Halloween is a modern-day holiday (during the eve of All Saints Day). Costumes and masks are also worn at festivals in an attempt to copy the evil spirits or placate them. But we just want to find the ultimate halloween costume.
Actually, according to most people, Halloween is to imitate supernatural and scary beings through suitable dresses or to dress up as your favorite character, trying to “one up” your friends. The traditional costumes are those of monsters, pirates, skeletons, ghosts, witches, devils and angels. In recent years, costumes have also been inspired by science fiction characters, superheroes and aliens, and most recently vampires from the very popular “Twilight” movie. Pop culture figures have also been a huge inspiration for trendy Halloween dresses, like presidents, athletes, and celebrities. Scary and trendy Halloween costumes do not need to cost an arm and a leg. Be creative and use things you find around the house. Make your own homemade “blood” with dried ketchup. Always remember though, the right accessories can make or break your costumes and they go a long way in making a costume effective or just plain silly, although that’s ok if that’s the look you are going for. Wear masks to transform your face into that of an old hag and use hats and sticks that go with your costume.
To put your own costume together you can take basic clothing that you have at home and embellish them. It’s pretty easy to make a geek or nerd costume, just add thick black glasses, too short pants and a pocket protector and voila! Instant nerd!
