the terrible BINKY!!!!?
okay, i wanna ask all the moms out there when they got rid of the binky. my daughter is 2 years old, and i have limited her binky to only at bed time and sometimes when she begs me for it. she is a big girl, she is tall and every one usually thinks she is older so it looks even worse that she has a binky. i would do the binky fairy thing but i dont think she will get it yet and i feel terrible. i did good with every thing else, i got rid of the bottle at age 1, and she sleeps in her toddler bed, but this binky thing is killing me! lol.
so, moms, when did you break the binky? did you feel bad? and how did you do it? im worried because im 15 weeks pregnant and if my newborn has a binky, and i take hers away, she is gonna be sooo mad. advice??? no rude answers please…. thanks guys.
yeah, i know i like it when she is happy, but people always are on to me about it. plus, with another child on the way i thought it would be best to break the habit before the new baby is here in december.
I understand your concern. I have a 2 1/2 year old who still uses the “binky” for sleep. We plan on having another child within the next year or so. The thought of taking the binky away is upsetting for me too!! But, I will probably wait until he’s closer to 3 because I think AAP recommends that. I thought about trying to use the statement “your not a baby anymore..shouldn’t we send your binky to a baby who might need it?” Then maybe put it in an envelop and pretend to mail it? I had a friend who did that and it seemed to work. Or you could even use the excuse that her new sibling will need it because he/she is the baby. Hopefully I am making sense!! Good luck!
