Yugioh: Ancient Fairy Dragon missing the timing?
I have recently herd that if you use Ancient Fairy Dragon’s second Special effect to destroy morphtronic map or geartown that you will miss the timing of both of those field cards if you search for another field card. Is this true, and if it is can someone please explain why it misses the timing.
Because the destruction if the field cards isn’t the last thing to happen at resolution, the placing a field card into the hand is. That is.. if they choose to..
Ruling:
“The effects “destroy a Field Spell Card” and “gain 1000 Life Points” of “Ancient Fairy Dragon” are considered to resolve simultaneously. However, if you choose to resolve the “add 1 Field Spell Card to your hand” effect, then that occurs afterwards.[4]”
“Example: If “Geartown” is destroyed by the effect of “Ancient Fairy Dragon” and you choose not to add a Field Spell Card to your hand, then you can activate the effect of “Geartown”. However, if you add a Field Spell Card to your hand, then you miss the timing and cannot activate the effect of “Geartown”.[5] ”
Due to those field cards having optional trigger effects, it’s possible to miss the timing. You miss the timing if the condition to trigger is NOT the last thing to resolve. So basically, effects that have a “then” really screw you up.
