Garden Fairies Figurines Questions

Garden Fairies Figurines
Concrete figures…how do i care for them?

I have many concrete cherub and fairy figurines in my garden… one of these is for whatever reason cracking… none were ever treated with a sealant and they are at least 4 years in my garden now…this one came from out of town somewhere and cant be replaced (not that any of them can be)…. what do i do? I have it in a planting near the door and i am afraid to move it because it now looks like it would probably just fall apart… and i am not quite sure what to do with it to hold it together…and the others— what am i to treat them with so that this doesnt happen in the future to them, too…

try using the same product as you would for your concrete drive way… Behr has a ‘wet look’ sealer that would protect it…. best policy is to bring it in during the winter months when water can get in the cracks freeze and do more damage… to fix older ones use the same concrete fillers for filling cracks then seal them to protect them from future damage…

Different Kinds of Decor You Can Use for Garden Lighting

The way your garden looks speaks for your own personality. That is why people who care to enhance the good impression that people have of them pay close attention to the way their garden is planted and laid out and the way the plants are trimmed. A beautiful garden is a landmark in the community, a source of pride and a gauge of the kind of people living in the house. And one of the features of a garden that dramatically increases its appeal is garden lighting.

People living in our times hardly realize how lucky we are to be able to control our sources of energy. We are able to illuminate our gardens at night like never before in the past. We have a choice between electric lights or solar-powered lights. And we can also avail of both types at the same time.

We can hang our lights on trees, fix them on metal poles that are driven into the ground, attach them on or into walls and ceilings, embed them into stone figurines. Some types of lights may even be left afloat on water or submerged. We can fix spot lights on garden walls or use ground lights to provide illumination for the lawn floor. There are also lights which are slightly taller than ground lights. These are the grass lights which are used to showcase artfully assembled rock gardens and delicate bonsai plants.

You also have butterfly lights to illuminate and give mysterious charm to shrubbery at night. In the daytime, the crystal bulbs glitter in the sunlight, adding colorful accents to the flowering shrubs. You can select large, solo butterfly lights that are embedded by their posts into the ground. The posts themselves may be studded with tiny multicolored bulbs. Or, if you prefer, get stranded fairy lights which are strung on a central length of cord. These may be wound around shrubs or on the low-hanging limbs of trees.

Just as we are able to choose the source of our light, we are also able to adjust their intensity, from dimmed to piercing brightness. If the lights flicker, the rate at which they do so may also be fine tuned to suite the mood we are in. They can be made to scintillate like little stars or blink sleepily. You can also find lights which change from one color to another even as they glitter.

But what is amazing is that today’s technology allows us to control solar garden lighting by pressing buttons on a remote inside the house. This provides you with considerable versatility in selecting the type of lighting you are inclined to.

Alternatively, you might want to install two or three sets of solar lights and alternate them one after another throughout the entire evening. There are remotes that can set electronic equipment to shut down and restart at given intervals. The same feature should also be available for garden lighting. By using this feature, you won’t even have to touch the remote to run your light extravaganza.

As you can see the possibilities open for you – if you are thinking about beautifying your night lawn with garden lighting – range from the simply elegant to the grandly dramatic. With the appropriate assemblies, you will never find yourself without options for any mood you want your garden to be in.
